Reventec Custom Programmable Temperature Sensor (CE-120-03)

The Brief:

A manufacturer of high calibre medical machinery contacted us to design a programmable temperature sensor that would become a drop-in replacement for an obsolete part that they could no longer source. Our customer required a customised sensor designed to fit specific spatial constraints within their machine and that could output a specific voltage measurement of 2.73VDC – 3.33VDC scaled over 0degC-+60degC.


Our Solution:

Reventec is a specialist at developing low volume bespoke temperature sensors and has the expertise to custom calibrate instruments with a scaled analog or CAN outputs. The CE-120-03 features a  ¼″ NPT tapered thread connected to the sensor for a secure fitment within the medical device. The high accuracy PT-1000 (1/3 DIN std) sensing element is constructed from robust stainless steel 316L and delivers accuracies of +/-1% of reading across the entire temperature range.

Integrated CPU’s within the sensor assembly eliminates the requirement for external processing and delivers a ratiometric voltage output. The semi-remote electronics allow for convenient placement of electronics away from the heat source being measured and for convenient placement of electronics to comply with the customers spatial constraints. The entire device has a wide operating temperature of -20°C to +85°C (-4°F to 185°F) and is pressure rated to 20 bar.

Designed for long-term reliability, the CE-120-03 is a solid-state device making it extremely tolerant to vibration, shock and liquid and dust ingress – an ideal choice for engineers and equipment operating in high stress environments where accuracy and reliability are paramount. All of our programmable temperature sensors are factory calibrated for simple plug and play installation and can also be customer-configured using a simple GUI. Supplied with flying lead, the harness length can be modified at time of order.
