A leading IndyCar race team approached us to design a suspension position sensor. They needed to monitor 45 degree arc movement in a front suspension rocker. During a race the team experienced frequent component failure, often more than once. These are harsh operating conditions. The brief was to design and produce a reliable sensor to replace the failing component, without modifying the rocker assembly. We were given three weeks to design and produce a fully-functional solution.
The suspension rocker position sensor had to operate reliably in the high temperature, high-vibration environment found in IndyCar. Reventec has an enviable history developing sensors for use in top-flight motorsports, so we have a good understand of the challenges.
The team needed a direct drop-in replacement for a troublesome component, so it needed to remain accurate under high vibration. Reventec position sensors use the latest TMR, non-contact sensing technology. This means they don’t suffer from the same physical wear characteristics of potentiometers and other legacy technologies.
We use the latest TMR technology to measure linear, angular and rotary component movement. Reventec sensors can also measure through 40mm of non-ferrous material. This delivers a high level of accuracy and reliability, and is unmatched by potentiometers or other legacy technologies. Our position sensors are ideal for use in harsh environments because they are solid-state and robust.
Our products provide highly-accurate data and are factory calibrated to a user’s specifications. They are also user-programmable via a simple GUI, supplied free of charge.
